BOOK REVIEW: the numbers trilogy by rachel ward

For Christmas I received the entire Numbers trilogy by Rachel Ward I just finished the last book in the series and now i'm going to review them for you. The idea of these books is that people have special "gifts" if you will which allow them to see the day you will die in numbers so for example JFK was assassinated on 22111963 and so that would be his number. These characters see numbers when looking directly into a person's eyes it is never explained why they have such an ability so you just have to accept that its happening without real reason.

Book One - Numbers
The first novel in the series follows the story of Jem and Spider, Jem can see numbers worst of all she can see Spider's number. I expected these books to be written towards younger teenagers more those around the 13 age mark but this book contained a lot of swearing and sexual scenes so i'm really not sure which age group these books are targeted at because for e at 17 they seem to be written very simply but contain much more mature content in contrast. The story itself was not what I was expecting it revolved around a terrorist attack and Jem and Spider essentially being on the run and surviving for majority of the novel. I enjoyed this book the most out of the trilogy it has potential and was left on a great cliffhanger so naturally I expected a lot from the next novel.

Book Two - The Chaos
I gave The Chaos two stars for a few reasons one it was just too similar to the first book, following the story of Adam and Sarah this time Adam can see the numbers and he sees to many people in London have the same number so apparently judgement day is here. I don't know it just felt like there was no real new material just the same old same old however it was definitely more dramatic with burning faces and child abuse it had a different take to the romantic story which is the first book(but I do love a good love story) this is more down to the point brutal, it touched on serious matters and I did enjoy the character development however this is a good sequel but it doesn't quite live up to the first in the series.

Book Three - Infinity
This is where it all went downhill for me. Now first problem is this books is around 100 pages shorter than its  previous books and for me it made it seem like a short story, a free e-book I don't know something was missing it all happened at once then finished no real questions answered nothing. I wanted to know why they saw numbers so badly not have some other "gift" thrown it to take off the point that this is the NUMBERS trilogy *deep sigh*. Urgh. It wasn't a bad book it just wasn't what I was expecting at all but still it definitely could've been concluded better the idea has so much potential but this was a massive fail for me.

As a complete side note - aren't these numbers at the side of each paragraph a nice touch? I think so
